The City of Sarnia has officially adopted a new Economic Development Master Plan (EDMP), a forward-looking framework that will guide the City’s economic development priorities over the next decade.
The plan is more than a policy document. It’s a strategic foundation to help position Sarnia as a dynamic hub of innovation, while continuing to build on the city’s industrial strengths and strategic location along the U.S. border and Great Lakes corridor.
At its core, the EDMP outlines four key focus areas for the City’s Economic Development department:
The plan reflects up-to-date economic data and builds on the lived experiences of local businesses, workers, and residents. Extensive community engagement helped shape its direction, ensuring that Sarnia’s economic strategy is grounded in real-world insight.
Adopting the EDMP signals a commitment to long-term planning and an integrated approach to economic development. It creates a shared roadmap to help the City stay focused on what matters most: growing a strong, inclusive economy where local businesses thrive and people want to live, work, and invest.
